A Colorado letterbox in the flatlands -it can still be found in winter!
S.E. of Denver lies a large man-made reservoir built in 1950 to regulate
flooding. Its one of the few places in Colorado where you can soak up the
sun on a sandy beach while gazing at snow-capped peaks to the west.

Enter Cherry Creek State Park from the east ($6 entry fee). Take 2 lefts and
park at the "Shop Creek" trailhead. Begin hiking on the west side of the
road on a good trail to the left. Shortly, cross a short wooden bridge over
the beginning of the wetland area. Further down the trail at the entrance to
the wildlife area notice a roofed kiosk with the quote:
"There are those that can live without wildlife, and those who cannot" - Aldo
Leopold
Once you enter the wildlife area (no bikes allowed) pass another sign on the
right identifying species found in this urban wildlife refuge. Keep your
eyes open!
On the left you will discover 2 very large crossed logs. 17 paces from the
end of the logs stands one of 6 large clumps of trees at the edge of the
woods. Look around back in the center of the clump to find the box.
